With Soliton’s RAP device, this all changes. After the initial laser pass is made and the vacuoles have formed, the RAP Device is applied immediately afterward. Within seconds, the RAP’s acoustic waves remove the vacuoles as well as further dispersing the ink pigment from the macrophages.
Another laser pass is now immediately possible and may be followed by another RAP Device pass and still another laser pass. With this new approach, Soliton’s RAP Device enables multiple passes in a single treatment session, something that would take months to complete without Soliton’s RAP.
But to the vast majority, the current method of removal is simply unacceptable. The current gold standard of care, short pulse laser removal alone, is long, expensive, painful, and often delivers inconsistent results.
Removing a typical tattoo with these current methods can take 10 or more office visits and 1 to 2 years to complete. Multiple clinical trials have demonstrated the ability of Soliton RAP technology to safely and dramatically reduce the number of treatments and time required to remove a tattoo and in the most recent clinical trial, 100% of these patients achieved complete removal in just 2 or 3 office visits.

In a second blinded clinical trial, 11 unique patients received 2 to 3 treatment sessions, again comparing the Soliton Multi-Pass treatment to Laser-Only treatment. 100% of the tattoos treated with the Soliton Multi-Pass method had a complete response (76 to 100% fading). In comparison, only 17% of the tattoos treated with Laser-Only had a complete response.
Soliton has conducted multiple clinical trials, including human trials, conducted under IRB supervision and have submitted those results to the FDA. Following additional trials we will conduct a limited product release to Key Opinion Leaders within the dermatology community. By 2020, Soliton will launch the acoustic shockwave technology (it is not currently available for sale) into wider domestic US, followed by international, distribution and position the technology as the standard of care for tattoo removal.
